Tooheys Oatmeal Stout ‘Mrs ‘arris & Mrs ‘iggs’ Sydney

John Thomas Toohey was the founder of one of Australia’s most well-known breweries. Originally called the Standard Brewery, it was built at Darling Harbour in 1875. Although now at another location, the brewery continues to be referred to as Toohey’s, a lasting monument to the memory of the founder.

The popular radio session featuring Mrs ‘arris and Mrs ‘iggs first broadcast on 2UW.  Athol Tier as Mrs ‘arris and Dan Agar as Mrs ‘iggs. The gossiping housewives were very popular and ran for 5 years.  After Athol Tier passed away, Dan Agar then played Mrs ‘obbs for 1,988 episodes from 1941. Tooheys Oatmeal stout was the advertising sponsor and this was a cutout promotion display.
