Breheny’s Bendigo brewery Poster

$24.00$85.00

The City Brewery Company was registered on 2 February 1893; the partners at that time were William Johnston and John Illingworth. They boiled their beer in an open iron vessel over an open fire, and their end product sold for 6s per dozen bottles. The London Brewery next door was merged with the City Brewery in 1894, and William Bruce’s Brewery (the old Norfolk Brewery) was taken over and closed the same year.

After 1900 the business continued as Illingworth’s City Brewery until March 1904, when the Breheny brothers took control. Three years later they sold the brewery to the Bendigo & Northern District Co-operative Brewing Co. Ltd.
