The Maitland Brewery was established in 1845 and in 1913 the Sydney brewer, Tooth & Co. Ltd, acquired the brewery, which continued to operate as Tooth & Co. Ltd, Successors to the Maitland Brewing Co. Ltd. Brewing was discontinued in 1915, and the buildings were later remodelled and converted into the Hampton Court Flats.

One of the famous brands out of the old Maitland Brewery was Bull Stout which Tooth’s continued to promote after their takeover. It was discontinued in the early 1950s.

Note the three different bottle sizes especially the smallest baby (nip) bottle. These were produced for the railways as an one glass serving but it was also available for public consumption.

This poster was produced in the 1930s. In 1983 Tooth were taken over by Carlton United Breweries in Victoria, who also continued the Resch’s brand which today is referred to as the ‘Silver Bullet’.

Post for all our art prints. Private courier can be arranged by request.
